A Serbian Film Banned in South Australia
In Australia, the controverse movie A Serbian Film only got the R18+ rating in a heavily censored version lacking three minutes.
One day before the release of the DVD on August 19th, South Australia, one of the federal states of the continent, has declared the movie illegal. This was done by the South Australian Classification Council, which considered the content of the movie to be unacceptable. It was grotesque at a number of levels. Exploitative sexual violence, offensive depictions of interactions between children and adults, exploitative behaviour generally of a nature that is so unusual that I can't imagine how any right-thinking person could think that this was something that should be appropriately, legally obtained in South Australia. However, the movie can still be bought in the rest of Australia.
