Midsommar - Director's Cut Exclusively on AppleTV? Ari Aster's horror film Midsommar is currently in theaters with a running time of 147 minutes. However, there is also a longer version with 171 minutes. This Extended Director's Cut has already been shown in some cinemas in the USA and a home video release has already been announced. Aster said that he doesn't necessarily consider the longer version the better one but fans are surely more interested in more material if they liked the theatrical version so far. As has now been announced, this longer version will only be available as a digital version in the US and probably a number of other markets, not on Blu-ray. To make matters worse, the Director's Cut is exclusive to AppleTV, not other digital vendors.
This version will be available as VOD on September 24, 2019 in the US. The Blu-ray version will follow on October 8 (including the digital version). If you want to own the Director's Cut of Midsommar on a physical medium, there's also a solution in France, where both versions will be included on the upcoming Blu-ray that has its street date on December 2nd, 2019. ![]()
