Island of Death - Blu-ray Premieres in UK and US In an effort to mimick the financial success of the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre, director Nico Mastorakis wrote and shot Island of Death. Even though it didn't become such an iconic entry in the history of film, it did shock enough audiences to get in censorship trouble in some markets. In the UK, for example, the film was cut heavily for the theatrical X rating and was then banned as a video nasty in 1983. On home video, the cuts were a problem, as well, leading up to another video nasty entry for an already censored VHS in 1987. In 2003, the BBFC finally granted a cut version the "18" rating (see comparison) and eventually allowed the uncut version to be released in 2010. And since there's no more reason not to give the film an HD release, Arrow Video will do so both in the UK and the US on May 25th and 26th, respectively. You can order it either at Amazon.co.uk or at Amazon.com.
