27 Cuts Necessary for BBFC 18 Rating

The fact that the British FrightFest only screened a "Special Festival Cut" of I Spit on Your Grave 2 was a clear indicator that an uncensored version wasn't going to happen in Great Britain. The BBFC now lists an entry in its database and confirms the expectations.

The rape'n'revenge thriller received the BBFC 18 classification only after 27 cuts were applied in 6 scenes. The trigger for this was sexualized violence which doesn't generally sit well with the board members. We have numerous examples of this in our archive.

Without the cuts, the film wouldn't have gotten a rating at all:

This film was originally seen for advice in an incomplete version. The company was informed that 27 cuts would be required across six scenes to remove various elements of sexual and sexualised violence. Without these cuts the work would have been refused a classification. When the completed version of the film was submitted for formal classification, all the requested cuts had been made, and the film was classified 18.

The cut version of I Spit on Your Grave 2 will be released in England on October 7th, 2013. The uncut and unrated version will be available in the US on September 24th, 2013. You can order it at Amazon.com.
