Man with the Iron Fists - Unrated Version Coming

Samurai Action Gets 13 Minutes Longer on Blu-ray

We already reported that The Man with the Iron Fists, the debut film of rapper turned director RZA, had an initial runtime of over 4 hours. RZA and co-writer Eli Roth already hinted that they would also work on a longer Director's Cut for the home video releases. Still, it was wise to take this with a grain of salt since the recent past showed that talk can be cheap in some cases where filmmakers announced longer cuts of their movies and then did not keep their promise.

However, RZA and Roth don't belong to that category. The announcement for the upcoming home video releases in the US shows that at least the Blu-ray will also include an Unrated Director's Cut (and deleted scenes with a combined runtime of 30 minutes!). The extended duration of now 108 minutes is still far away from the initial 4 hours of the original cut but the additional 12 minutes of the DC could still manage to improve the theatrical version.

The new version of The Man with the Iron Fists will be available in US retail on February 12th, 2013.
