Brawl in Cell Block 99 - Cut & Rated BBFC 15

Additional Censored Version for the UK

In the UK, the Uncut Version of Brawl in Cell Block 99 starring Vince Vaughn is available on Blu-ray and DVD since December 2018. It has been rated BBFC 18 for "strong bloody violence, injury detail".

Universal Pictures submitted a cut version to the BBFC not so long ago. Said version lacks approx. 44 seconds and it got the desired BBFC 15 rating (strong violence, threat, language, injury detail, sex and drug references).

BBFC:

Distributor chose to reduce or remove moments of stronger. sadistic violence and injury detail in order to achieve a 15 classification. Cuts made in accordance with BBFC Guidelines and policy. An uncut 18, in line with previous versions of the work, was available.

The reason for editing this version is still unknown. Releasing a censored version a few months after releasing the movie uncut is a rather uncommon policy in the UK.
