Until Dawn - Horror Game Censored in Japan

Gore Scenes Too Violent for Ratings Board

The horror game Until Dawn has impressed the gaming community and one of its aspects - the gore level - has now caused a problem for the game in Japan. As the Youtube channel Censored Gaming reports, explicit gore scenes were censored. But instead of removing splatter and blood effects, the Japanese gamers simply get a black screen or a layer placed over the action. An example video can be found here. Other markets such as the US or Germany are not affected by this.
