The Boy Next Door - Censored Version in the UK While all the buzz and hype surrounds 50 Shades of Grey, the Rob Cohen-directed stalker thriller The Boy Next Door starring Jennifer Lopez is fighting for its audience. But it will have a harder situation in England because it was censored for the more lucrative BBFC 15 rating. Shades didn't do that, by the way. Ironically, the rating is not even due to the sex scene that was so cleverly marketed before. Instead "strong violence, threat, very strong language" were the reason for the "18". And that is also where the cut has been made: Warning, spoilers!Company chose to remove a moment of strong gory detail (close up eye-gouging) in order to obtain a 15 classification. Cut made in accordance with BBFC Guidelines and policy. An 18 uncut classification was available. We'll see whether that censorship will also find its way onto the British home video releases. In these days, there's no way of predicting the answer to that question anymore. ![]()
