"Return of the Joker" is a feature film among the series "Batman Beyond". Due to a political uproar against violence in animated movies at that time Warner Bros. canceled the release and edited the movie to a version that was then released worldwide. In the beginning of 2001 the original and uncensored version was released in the USA, on top of that in Anamorphic Widescreen while earlier releases had been presented only in Fullscreen Not only has the movie been cut in terms of violence but it has been severely censored as well. Also, white "flashes" were often put in to cover up the cuts. This effect is present in the uncut version as well but less excessively and not for censorship reasons. Also, the death of the Joker is completely different in both versions – details in the report itself. The Uncut Version gives the fans a real run for their money. The previously censored bits turn the movie into something much darker and more mature.

The Joker tries to attack Tim, but he slips, grabs a lever, accidentally pulls it and is electrocuted in the off. Batgirl hears Joker scream and runs into the building. Tim laughs but eventually starts to cry.

69.22 Dito. 0,5 Sec 71.04 In the Uncut Version, the Dee-Dee's grandmother is wearing blue clothes and red clothes in the Regular Version since it is none other than Jokers old girlfriend Harley. The reason for the change is anyone's guess. In her red clothes Harley is easily identified but her identity is clear in both versions since the Dee-Dee's address her with "Nana Harley". The Regular Version is just a bit more specific because Harley is wearing her usual colors. I assume that it was the intention to make it even more clear in the Regular Version that Harley did not die during her confrontation with Batgirl. No time difference
