The Maze Runner Only Censored in the UK The Maze Runner was shown in British cinemas in October 2014 and was only presented in a cut version because distributor 20th Century Fox desired the BBFC 12 rating in order to reach its preferred target audience. 43 seconds of material were cut out for that to happen.
In recent weeks, the company submitted two versions of the movie to the BBFC, both intended for the home video release. Apart from the known BBFC 12 theatrical version they also received the BBFC 15 rating for the uncut version and everything looked like the same release strategy that was applied for The Hunger Games would be used: cut on DVD, uncut on Blu-ray. However, that doesn't seem to happen. According to the announcement and recent packshots, both media will only contain the censored version of the film. The Maze Runner hits UK home video on February 9th, 2015. An alternative for frustrated UK customers could be an import from e.g. Germany where the film comes out on DVD and Blu-ray on February 26th, 2015. Without any cuts. ![]()
