Anchorman 2 as Unrated Version on Home Video

Extended Cut Probably 25 Minutes Longer

Well, it seems that what everyone already expected is now a confirmed fact. Anchorman: The Legend Continues was very successful at the US box office despite the early talks of more footage being available in the cutting room. Several options were discussed, such as 2 different theatrical versions, an alternate version with new gags, a normal Unrated version and a less-censored theatrical cut in the UK.

But since there were some promises regarding alternate versions of other movies that eventually were not kept, it is nice to see that Amazon.com assures us that it's coming true in this case. At least as VOD, the film is explicitly named as Unrated Version. And the UK provide further proof of a longer version because the British BBFC has recently rated the supersized version of the film.

The runtime of that is a whopping 143 minutes while the theatrical cut had a duration of just 118 minutes. Might that become a Burgundy overkill? Even the first film's Unrated Version was less than 100 minutes long.

The release date for the US is April 13th, 2014. The UK don't have a fixed date right now. You can order the Blu-ray either at Amazon.co.uk or Amazon.com.
