Evil Dead [2013] - US Release Without Unrated Cut Initially punished with the NC-17 rating by the MPAA, the Evil Dead remake had to endure several alterations in order to secure the "R" rating for its theatrical release. Even though that version features lots of bloody goods, you'd rather want the NC-17 version if it exists. At least it was teased for the home video releases. However, it seems that we'll have to wait for that some longer. Sony Pictures announced the DVD/BD release dates for the US for July 17th, 2013. Neither the artwork, nor the product details give any hint that the harder Unrated Cut will be included and so we'll have to expect for now that only the theatrical version will await us on these media. Also, there will be no deleted scenes in the bonus section. Of course, there's hope that the Unrated Cut will be released some time in the future or - just as it was done with Texas Chainsaw - be available as exclusive VOD. We'll see what happens.
