Lisa and the Devil - The UK Also Gets 2 Versions Lisa and the Devil, a horror film by Mario Bava, had a rough start. Even though Bava had complete freedom while shooting the film he wanted, the Italian audience didn't like the end product. The attempt to distribute it outside of Italy, especially in the US, failed. It wasn't wanted and seemed too special for a mass audience. Producer Alfredo Leone had financial struggles and urged Bava to recut the film and do reshoots. Leone wanted to profit from The Exorcist's big fame by addressing the same subject matter. Bava wasn't too excited and did not fully participate in the reshooting process. The end result was The House of Exorcism. Big parts of the Lisa version now served as flashbacks and many aspects were missing completely. The new exorcist scenes and the fancy new title didn't cause much success, though. The House of Exorcism was a flop as well and without question the worse film. After the US label Lorber Films released the film in both versions in the US, the UK follow in February 2013. The audio commentary als refers to a Spanish cut where a violent scene is supposedly longer but is shortened in others, e.g. a sex scene. Full specs of the UK Blu-ray:
