Birds of Prey Gets Re-Shoots For New Action Scenes
Recently, Margot Robbie stated that it is important to her that Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) is not dismissed as a chick flick.
While the later released extended version of Suicide Squad couldn't necessarily fulfil the expectations of the audience that was rather disappointed with the PG-13 of the theatrical version, one should not be worried about the action content here, according to Robbie. Besides the "R" rating, the actress also emphasizes in a recent interview how good the action is going to be.
But apparently not good enough as of yet, because as The Hollywood Reporter reported, there will be re-shoots for new action scenes. In return, the entire women's community will come together once again for post-production.
John Wick director Chad Stahelski is responsible for the action. He will work together with the actual director of the film, Cathy Yan, who previously shot only one family drama in China besides short films. The stunt work of the film so far has already been done by 87Eleven, the stunt company Chad Stahelski runs together with David Leitch (Deadpool 2). So it's only logical that he takes control of the new action scenes. Anyway, action scenes are often only taken over by the 2nd unit if the actual director lacks the experience or just isn't interested in it.
US and UK theatrical release for Birds of Prey is February 7, 2020.
