Blade Runner 2049 - No Extended Cut on Blu-ray Blade Runner 2049 is a direct sequel of Blade Runner (1982). With Harrison Ford, the lead actor from the original returns to play his old character one more time. However, the new lead is Ryan Gosling. In the US, the sequel was rated R. A huge difference to the original is its length though. While the original has a length of approx. 117 minutes (certainly, it depends on the version), Blade Runner 2049 has a length of 163 minutes. As Ridley Scott explained in an interview with Vulture, he co-wrote a huge part of the screenplay but in his opinion, the movie is way too long. Director Denis Villeneuve now mentioned in an interview with Collider that there will be no Extended Cut of Blade Runner 2049. His first cut is approx. 4 hours long but that is not uncommon. Making a two-parter out of it for its theatrical release was also taken into consideration but since he is not a fan of Extended Versions and since the Theatrical Version does contain every single scene he wanted to have in the movie, the Theatrical Version remains the one and only version of Blade Runner 2049.
