All the Money in the World: Reshoot and Recast Shortly before Christmas 2017, Ridley Scott's Thriller All the Money in the World, which is based on an actual abduction case from the 70's, is supposed to premier in US movie theaters. And the studio has intention whatsoever to postpone the release even though reshoots appear to be required all of a sudden. The reason are the numerous accusations of sexual harassment against Kevin Spacey. As a result, more and more people in Hollywood distance themselves from him. In All the Money in the World, Spacey plays J. Paul Getty, millionaire and grandfather of the abducted teenager J. Paul Getty III. Although it is just a minor part - Spacey was only 8 days on set - it is an important part because it is the grandfather who refuses to pay ransom to the Italian mobsters which makes him complicit in the subsequent escalation of the conflict. Cutting this character was simply not an option. For that reason, the decision to replace Spacey with Christopher Plummer was made. While the new footage is being adapted to the change of personal, there are still old trailers with Spacey out there.
