Manhunter - US Blu-ray With 2 Versions

Scream Factory Releases Theatrical and DC

Michael Mann's first film adaptation about the Hannibal Lecter story Manhunter (1986) exists in several versions. Apart from the theatrical cut and the Director's Cut, there's also an altered theatrical version ("Anchor Bay Version").

Until now, the Blu-rays worldwide did always contain the original theatrical version and some countries (such as the UK or Germany) got the DC as a bonus, even though it was only in SD. On May 24th, 2016, the US label Scream Factory will change that with its new 2 disc Blu-ray set.

Here, the theatrical version (presumably the original one) will be accompanied by the DC. The latter will be included being largely in HD with the other scenes in SD. The additional specs are:

Disc 1: Theatrical Version of the film (HD)

  • NEW The Mind of Madness – an interview with William Petersen (18 minutes)
  • NEW Courting a Killer – an interview with actress Joan Allen (16 minutes)
  • NEW Francis is Gone Forever – an interview with actor Tom Noonan (22 minutes)
  • NEW The First Lecktor – an interview with actor Brian Cox (40 minutes)
  • NEW The Eye of the Storm – an interview with director of photography Dante Spinotti (36 minutes)
  • NEW The Music of MANHUNTER – including interviews with composer Michel Rubini, Barry Andrews (Shriekback), Gary Putman (The Prime Movers), Rick Shaffer (The Reds) and Gene Stashuk (Red 7) (42 minutes)
