The Martian - Ridley Scott Confirms Extended Cut

Blu-ray Will Feature 20 More Minutes of Film

When Ridley Scott's The Martian starring Matt Damon hits US theaters on October 2nd, 2015, fans of space and science fiction entertainment can already look forward to the Blu-ray release.

The director spoke with the German website filmfutter.com and told them that an extended version is coming on home video. According to Scott, it prolongs the theatrical version (142 minutes) by a whopping 20 additional minutes in order to extend the story about the rescue of Mars astronaut Mark Watney even more. It was too long in cinemas and Scott believes it would work better on home video - and would also contain some scenes that were quite relevant.
