Chappie - Don't Expect a Director's Cut Later On After having directed District 9 and Elysium, filmmaker Neill Blomkamp made Chappie his third effort. Fortunately, it is rated "R" and seems to have earned it even though the trailers appear as if it could be a movie for kids. But the rating proves that Blomkamp wasn't forced to tone it down. This and Blomkamp's recent statement in an inverview regarding longer versions on home video show that you shouldn't expect to encounter an unrated, extended or director's cut later on:
Let's all hope that Blomkamp's 4th movie, the highly anticipated new entry in the Alien franchise, stays rated "R", as well. In the meantime, you can check out what Chappie is all about. It's in US and UK cinemas starting March 6th, 2015.
