Cloud Atlas - Netflix CEO Praises Longer Version While Jupiter Ascending adds to the realm of post-Matrix films by the Wachowski siblings that don't seem to find common ground among viewers and the two think that it's their last big theatrical endeavour, they get new support by a different business model: Netflix.
Netflix' CEO Ted Sarandos for whom the Wachowskis made Sense8 (comes out in May 2015) saw the 4-hour cut of Cloud Atlas. The film's theatrical running time was almost 3 hours but everybody who read the book and saw the film will probably agree that there was a lot that could have been explored there. Fans would likely welcome a longer version of the film as much as Sarandos. Maybe Warner can be convinced (hey, when Alexander gets 4 version, why not this one?) or Neflix can act as a distribution vessel? The money lost on Jupiter Ascending must be balanced out by something, so why not this? Every Dollar counts.
