Aquaman - UK home cinema releases also censored With the DC Cinematic Universe, Warner Bros. demonstrated how to largely fail at creating a surefire concept and big financial earner. A concept that works very well in the Marvel/Disney universe, mind you. But there have been signs of hope, because Wonder Woman not only convinced critics, but also viewers who flocked to cinemas in masses and created a worldwide box office revenue of $822 million. The fact that Aquaman would be even more successful with $1.142 billion at the box office came as a big surprise. Therefore, the British branch of Warner Bros. will even pat themselves on the back that they produced a censored BBFC 12 version for the theatrical release. They found the BBFC 15 rating which the ratings board would have given the uncut version to be too high and potentially threatening for their financial goals. But the fact that all English home cinema releases are now equipped with this version, as well, should annoy especially those fans who avoided going to the cinema because of the censored version. They now have no choice but to import it abroad where it is not affected by the cuts. Germany, for example, where it was released uncut with a 12 rating on DVD, Blu-ray and 4K UHD Blu-ray. On May 5, 2019, Aquaman will be released on the German market. The US street date is March 26, 2019. Buy this title on Amazon ![]()
