Night of the Living Dead on Blu-ray in the US George A. Romero's classic Night of the Living Dead (1968) is one of the most influential horror films of all times. Because the film is public domain in the US, there are numerous releases an Blu-ray and DVD. In addition to the original black and white Theatrical Version, there is also a colored version that lacks a few scenes (comparison). Furthermore, there is a so-called 30th Anniversary Edition that contains a couple of new scenes (comparison). At the end of 2015, another rather long scene was found by Romero. This scene is supposed to be part of some upcoming release (as reported back then). A few months ago, it was stated that a 4K scan of the negative had been made and that this scan would be shows in certain theaters across the US. in the US, Criterion will release the new 4K scan as 2-Disc Set on Blu-ray. Release date is 02/13/2018. The release will contain a never released workprint as bonus. The new scene Romero found will probably be part of the workprint.
