The Great Silence Restored in 4K A Blu-ray release of Sergio Corbucci's The Great Silence (Original: Il grande Silenzio, 1968) starring Jean-Louis Trintignant, Klaus Kinski and Frank Wolff was never considered an option due to the lack of original negatives required for an HD scan. And in fact, there is only one single Blu-ray release so far: In Japan, this classic was released on Blu-ray in 2013. Unfortunately, this is only an upscale of the SD version. However, the French film institute Cinémathèque française now announced that a 4K scan of the original print has been made. It should only be a matter of time until the first Blu-ray (in HD) will be announced. ![]()
