Suicide Squad Gets an Extended Cut on Blu-ray Even though it was roughly panned by critics, Suicide Squad was one of the most successful films of summer 2016. $700 million were generated at the worldwilde box office. Still, many viewers felt like the film lacked several scenes that were included in the trailers and were unhappy with Warner Bros. having too much influence on the final cut. During the film's press tour, director David Ayer stated multiple times that the theatrical version was his favored cut and that no longer version was planned on home video. Well, that turned out differently in the end. An Extended Cut has been announced for the Blu-ray. It features 13 additional minutes of material and will be available on VOD starting November 15th, 2016. The Blu-ray will come out in the US on Deceber 13th, 2016 and feature both versions. Buyers of the DVD will only get the theatrical version. Suicide Squad is the second film of the DCEU after Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice to have a prolonged version on Blu-ray. Considering that the latter has earned an "R" rating, it'll be interesting to see what Suicide Squad can offer. You can order the Blu-ray at Amazon.com.
