Snowpiercer - Cuts Still in Consideration Since last year, there is a constant battle surrounding the film Snowpiercer (we reported). The Weinstein Company wants to drastically shorten the movie in order to for it to be easily consumable for US audiences and therefore started a conflict with the South Korean director. Since then, a release date for the post-apocalyptic film is unknown, at least for the US and the UK.
John Hurt, one of the actors in the film, has now joined the discussion after his colleagues Tilda Swinton and Chris Evans already spoke out against the plans. And he is not fond of Harvey Weinstein's intent. Even though he praises him for tackling heavy themes in movies, he criticizes that it always has to happen exactly as Weinstein wants it and that he just doesn't trust the directors. Hurt has seen the movie and wishes that the uncut version will also be shown in English-speaking territories where the Weinstein Company has the distribution rights. Snowpiercer will be shown in its uncut form at the Berlinale festival.
