Barely Lethal - Appeal Against MPAA Rating If you remember Hit Girl from the Kick Ass movies, you probably recall how hard it can be for teenagers to adjust to a normal life when in truth they are skilled assassins. The protagonist in Barely Lethal wants such a normal teenager life but of course has to fight back against those from her past that just don't leave her alone. With actresses such as Hailee Steinfeld, Sophie Turner and Jessica Alba in a highschool setting, one can imagine that the film is more geared towards a teenager target group. For that, a PG-13 rating is the normal necessity. But the MPAA complicated the situation because they gave the film the "R" rating (for sexual material and teen drinking). The studio announced to appeal the rating in a hearing and will now try to convince the board to give the film the desired PG-13. That can work with just arguments and good will but often enough cuts were the last resort to reach that goal. What's it gonna be for Barely Lethal? We'll hopefully see soon enough.
