The Boy Next Door Got a Raunchier Sex Scene
At some point during post-production, director Rob Cohen must have realized that his newest film, the stalking thriller The Boy Next Door starring Jennifer Lopez, would have a hard time to convince the audience that it's a good movie. There aren't many options when that happens but one thing always comes to mind: "sex sells". The director started to mention that the sex scene between Lopez and Ryan Guzman was shot another time in order to make it a bit spicier.
The sex scene is mentioned 4 times in the film's IMDb trivia section. Some production assistant really made an effort to stress that this selling point makes the film worth watching. Not the thrills but a sex scene with JLo, oh well. Those who saw the film and said sequence are rather disappointed and suggest to watch older films of the actress such as Money Train or U-Turn where she's also getting it on.
Eventually, it seems to have helped. The box office of the first weekend was in the range of $15 million. With a budget of just $4.5 million that looks like a safe profit for the film. Congrats.
