Team America - Protest Screenings Cancelled Due to the recent decision that Sony Pictures decided to cancel the release of The Interview, some US cinemas wanted to show the puppet film Team America. The screening of the 10-year-old film by the makers of South Park was intended to serve as a sign of protest. While the film is a satire about America at its core but uses the deceased Kim Jong Il as the nemesis of the story, the choice to show that film would somewhat function as a raised middlefinger to both Sony and North Korea. But that plan has now been scrapped, as well, since US distributor Paramount Pictures will not make the film available to be screened in cinemas, making the protest showings impossible.
