Horns With Uncensored Version in the UK This autumn we had to report that Alexandre Aja's horror film Horns starring Daniel Radcliffe was censored in the UK prior to its theatrical release. For the reduction from 18 to 15, the BBFC gives details on what had to be altered:
Especially this year, the UK cinemagoers had to endure several examples of films that were censored in favor of a lower rating in order to attract a wider audience. In some unfortunate cases (such as Hercules and Pompeii), those pre-cuts took place during the post-production phase and didn't stay UK-exclusive but were (most likely) implemented worldwide. In the case of Horns, the BBFC's archive shows that this film is not affected in this manner. The board's database explicitly mentions a 15-rated "UK Cut Version" and an 18-rated "Extended Cut". The runtimes are identical what leads to the assumption that alternate material was used to make the film more harmless. As soon as the film's home video releases hit the UK retail on March 9th, 2015, we'll check it out for sure. ![]()
