Pineapple Express - Only Theatrical Version in 4K Just as they did with Angels and Demons an Spider-Man 2, Sony will release Pineapple Express only with its theatrical version within the "Mastered in 4K" Blu-ray series. The extended cut of the movie, featuring approx. 5 minutes of additional footage (see comparison), is not included. Just as it is in the other 4K cases that only feature the shorter theatrical version, the reason is that the more disc space remains, the better the picture quality of the 4K Blu-ray is. And Sony is willing to scrap all bonus material and longer versions in order to reach that goal. Tech geeks might rejoice, film geeks might be upset. If you're more on the technical side of things, you might want to grab the 4K Blu-ray that comes out in the US on July 30th, 2013, and can be ordered at Amazon.com.
