Spring Breakers: Remix Instead of Director's Cut?

Harmony Korine Reveals New Plans

During the promo tour for his film Spring Breakers, director Harmony Korine admitted that he is a fan of extended versions and said that the DVD/BD will most likely have an unrated cut of his movie on board. However, Spring Breakers gets released on home video in a few days and there's no sight of a longer version. Only the theatrical cut will be included.

But the thought of a new version doesn't seem to have vanished completely. Inspired by the music industry, Korine could think of doing a remix of his film:

“I had this idea. With music remixes sometimes, when certain producers take a song and chop them up and deconstruct them – why not try that with a feature film? Using all different footage, making the same film all over again."

An alternate cut could be assembled by using e.g. outtakes:

"Maybe that’s a surprise. Let’s just say for right now there’ll be a whole alternate film at some point. Maybe on the DVD, maybe on iTunes." (Source)

Let's wait and see how this announcement turns out after the other one failed to materialize.
