Amazing Spiderman 2 Again With Story Changes It happens all the time that certain scenes can be seen in trailers but not in the final film. The Amazing Spiderman is just another example where story changes were responsible for the removal of scenes during production. For instnace, a part of the background story was taken away so that it could be divided up between the parts of the planned trilogy. Now, the sequel which hits theaters in 2014 will have a change, as well. This time, the character of Mary-Jane Watson, played by Shailene Woodley, is affected as it has been scrapped entirely from the film. Initially, the character was supposed to be introduced and several scenes were already shot. But since director Marc Webb decided to focus on the relationship between Peter Parker and Gwen Stacy, all scenes with Mary-Jane will not appear in the film. The character is supposed to show up in the third film and it's uncertain whether Shailene Woodley will still be the actress to embody her. A theatrical release for the third film is planned for 2016.
