Snowpiercer - TV Show with Massive Problems
Even the motion picture Snowpiercer, directed by South Korean filmmaker Bong Joon-ho starring Chris Evans, John Hurt and Ed Harris, was in the center of a struggle for power between artistic demands on the one hand and financial interests of international distributor Harvey Weinstein on the other - as reported back in the day (click).
The TV show with the very same title, produced by TNT and starring Jennifer Connelly and Daveed Diggs, has been dealing with similar issues for quite some time now. Showrunner Josh Friedman (Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles), in other words the one being in charge of both the narrative and productional aspects of the show while the director can change all the time, had to leave at the beginning of 2018 due to creative differences. He has been replaced with Graeme Manson (Orphan Black) who has not gotten the show back into shallow waters yet.
The very direct statement by Scott Derrickson (Doctor Strange), director of the very important pilot episode of the Snowpiercer TV show, makes that pretty obvious:
The show must go on - so to speak. But whether this is a good omen for the show is the million dollar question.
