The conversation in Gene's office is longer in the UK Version. After Alex's "What, protect Battleford? Please don't do this", the scene continues in the UK Version.
Ray: "Guv. You should come and see this. The 'Sheffield' is going down. You're telling me this is the work of schoolboy conscripts?"
Viv: "You know what? Those argies should just scram 'cause we're gonna waste 'em."
The others agree: "Yeah."
Alex (to Gene): "Mac's got a real hold on you, hasn't he?"
Gene: "Oh, shut it."
Alex: "You've closed down a whole line of inquiry just to keep on side with him. Thick as thieves."
With Gene's "Are you gonna get me Alva?", the versions are back in sync.

In the UK Version, the scene with Gene is not over yet.
Ray: "You alright, guv?"
Gene: "Who are you, Marjorie Proops?"
Gene then returns to his office and slams the door. He sits down, then the mentioned shot of Chris.

When Alex has left, Gene empties his drink. In the International, we now see Gene dialing the number of his predecessor, DCI Garrett.
The UK Version shows Chris instead. He is busy with stuff on his desk, then Shaz comes in.
He follows her to her desk and asks: "Fancy a bite? Curry?"
Shaz: "I'm bushed. Just wanna go home and watch 'Fame'. Chris, please stop waggling yourself when you're talking to me."
Ray (from the back): "They're moving them on soon. The Gyppos."
The others are cheering.
Alex: "Whose orders?"
Ray: "Council's. Some kind of caravan act. About time. Hand it back to the honext, tax-paying folk. And if they're drafting in any muscle, I'm well up for it."
Alex leaves the office, then Chris to Ray: "Shaz has blown me out."
Ray: "Yeah, well, lucky you."
Chris: "No. Blown me out. I don't know when I'm gonna pop the bloody question. Pint?"
Ray: "No. Not tonight."
Ray now leaves as well. Chris is left behind irrated, tosses a few more things from his desk into a box, grabs his jacket and leaves as well. Then another shot of Gene in his office. Subsequently the already mentioned scene with Gene calling his predecessor.

After Gene roughed up the Doc in the men's room, the International Version continues with Gene and Mac.
In the UK Version, Gene and the Doc leave the men's room.
Gene then says to Viv: "Take him down, Skipper."
Viv (to the Doc): "Oh, cheer up, little soldier. Cell's all nice and Detolled. And there's buns for tea."
While Viv is pushing him through the door, he says: "Get in there!"
Then Alex. She and Gene are looking at each other, Alex smiles. Gene leaves and Alex stays behind. With the shot of Gene and Mac, the versions are back in sync.
