In addition to spears, poison darts are now also used. Chau Sang gets hit by a spear while another guy pulls the darts out of his arm.

Similar to the Colonel in the previous scene, the confrontation between the chief and Chan is foreshadowed. Meanwhile, Chau Sang cleans his neck and then reaches for his gun as he notices a movement.

A whole sequence is now missing: The tearful reunion of father and son is extended with various shots. Then Chin and Chau Sang decide to follow the baddies on foot.

This is followed by the only overtly comedic scene in the Korean version: the soldiers' car got stuck in the sand. Chin and Chau Sang fire away at the soldiers, but the commander escapes. Somehow, Chin manages to slide down a mountain face. Chau Sang lowers a rope that gets caught on a rock. While Chau Sang tries in vain to pull up the rope (and complains about Chin's supposed weight), Chin climbs up by himself. A heavily sped-up sample from Goblin's Zombi – Dawn of the Dead soundtrack is played throughout the scene.

At this point in the HK version, the viewer is subjected to a seemingly unending barrage of spirit-crushing nonsense. Illustrating all that rubbish in any great detail would be a complete waste of bandwidth, so a couple of sample images will do. The first scene consists of Chin desperately trying to lose against an increasingly aggravated village chief that has a gun pointed at him. Chin ultimately pulls out a grenade and blows up the whole lot. Ha! After that, we see Chau Sang looting jewellery from dead bodies. Remember, kids: Vietnamese soldiers never go to war without their Rolex! As if the scavenging wasn't bad enough, one of his victims turns out to still be alive as Chau Sang tries to pull the gold teeth out of the soldier's mouth, so Chau Sang brutally executes him with a gunshot to the head. This scene is about as far removed from Woo's world of honor and chivalry as you could possibly get. A bumbling, fat Vietnamese soldier comes along and, after ab bit of slapstick comedy, gets shot in the butt by Chau Sang. After two of the film's main characters have been thoroughly defiled by 10 excruciating minutes of "comedy" about gambling and pulling gold teeth from not-quite dead bodies, Chau Sang meets his demise in a rather gruesome fashion.
