GTA V Removed From Some Australian Shops Some years ago, GTA IV was censored in Australia. Apart from blood reduction, scenes with prostitutes were made more harmless (see comparison). GTA V didn't encounter such problems because by the time it got released, the Australian Ratings Board had introduced the MA18+ rating. However, the game is now getting problems a year after it got published in Australia. A petition that obviously found 45.000 supporters criticizes the violence against women depicted in the game. The main criticism is that the player can have sex with a prostitute in a car and is able to run her over or kill her otherwise after the act is performed. The petition doesn't mention that this is also possible with male characters and isn't limited to women. It also leaves out the fact that the police comes after the player if he chooses to act like this. At least two retail chains with hundreds of stores have reacted to the petition and removed the game from their catalogue.
