300: Rise of an Empire - Information on the Rating
Even though the first 300 movie came out back in 2006, the studio felt that there was still enough room for 300: Rise of an Empire nearly 8 years later. Maybe the Spartacus series on the Starz channel having enormous success with this theme has added some fuel to the fire.
And as it it is often the case with films that feature stylized violence and nudity, the question could be asked whether anything had to suffer cuts for the MPAA process. Especially a sex scene provokes heated discussions among some critics in the US.
In an interview with Collider director Noam Murro was asked about it and replied that the MPAA didn't have any objections with the scenes in his film and that no censorship was necessary for the "R" rating.
Furthermore, it doesn't look like fans should expect an Extended Cut on home video since the film has been always close to the final runtime of 102 minutes.
