The Tree of Life Could Get a Director's Cut Even before Terrence Malick's movie The Tree of Life was released, different sources said that well-known actors shot scenes for the film but didn't appear in the final cut. Malick is one of those unpredictable filmmakers where one can never be sure. And obviously, there's a huge amount of unused material that didn't make it into the film as it is right now. But what doesn't happen in cinemas could well become reality on DVD/BD. And even though the theatrical cut has been released for quite some time on these media, Malick might go back to the editing room as his cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki mentions. Especially scenes with the two child characters seem to be the point of interest:
As always: take it with a grain of salt. Filmmakers like to promise longer cuts of their movies and not always does something come of it. With Malick it's even a little more uncertain.
