Spring Breakers - No Longer Cut on DVD/BD? In theory, one could place bets if the Unrated Versions that are announced or teased by directors prior to the home video release actually become reality or not. Especially the last months delivered a lot of disappointing examples where directors kept fan hopes up and didn't keep their word. Spring Breakers - a film that basically screams for an Unrated Cut - is the most recent case. Director Harmony Korine said in an interview that he was a big fan of unrated versions and that he'll work on one for Spring Breakers.
A safe bet, if you will. But as it turns out, the announcement for the upcoming DVD and Blu-ray that are due on July 9th, 2013, doesn't contain any information on that promised version of the movie. No hint on the artwork, no mention in the advertising text. Interested customers will have to be satisfied with the theatrical version - at least for the time being.
