Total Recall certainly has to be on this list. This clever and brutal movie can be seen as a molestone in the Sci-Fi Action genre and was made when both Arnold Schwarzenegger's and Paul Verhoeven's careers were on their peak. Unfortunately, this movie had to be censored for the R-Rating as well and has since then been a classic discussion topic among fans and in various media outlets. Every time there is a new release coming up there is hope again that it might this time be the Unrated Version. One of the most well-known cut scenes is the one in which Helm is being stabbed in the gut by the midget prostitute, he originally was also sliced up. This scene is so famous because pictures of it have been published by the magazine Fangoria. However, there are other deleted scenes as well, like the severing of the arm in the elevator and Benny's death by drilling.

When the remake of the movie was released in 2012, many fans hoped that the predictable new releases of the original would this time include the uncut version, but to no avail. On the other hand, the home cinema releases of the remake were unrated, so we can see again that the movie was merely made too early to be treated the same way. Now, as the uncut version was not even released in connection with the remake, it seems very unlikely that there will be any positive developments in that aspect in the near future.
