For its 20th anniversary, there was a re-release of Dawn of the Dead in a lot of countries - including the UK.
The UK first release (Romero Cut) was rediculously censored. The cover of the re-release reads "Director's Cut". Well, technically, that is true and yet 3 cuts were required in order to get te BBFC 18 rating. The funny thing is: The removed is less graphic than the footage that is still in the movie (well, except for the first cut).
Compared are the UK re-release (BBFC 18) and the Uncut Version (Romero Cut/Director's Cut) (Laserdisc).
3 cuts = 8 seconds
After the cop kicks in the door, the shot of him blowing off a zombie's head is missing.
A zombie bites his former wife's arm. The shot of the blood gushing out of the wound is shorter.
Peter shoots the zombie kids. Every single shot of the twitching kids in the hail of bullets plus the shots of Peter firing off the shots are missing.
