Pillaged is a French-Italian film adaptation of the crime novel The Captive City by Richard Stark - a pseudonym behind which was the successful author Donald E. Westlake. The signature of Claude Sautet (Consider All Risks, The Things of Life), who wrote the screenplay with director Alain Cavalier (Fire and Ice), is unmistakable. The main role was played by Michel Constantin (The Wise Guys, Violent City), who almost subscribed to playing crooks. It can be assumed that the missing parts documented here in the French version are purely master-related. I have not taken into account master errors of less than a second, as well as dropouts that briefly cause the picture to go black, but do not cause a runtime difference. 0:00:00 / 0:00:00
The opening credits start earlier in the German version.
The French version doesn't start until the title fade-in.
Total 19 sec. 0:13:16 / 0:13:35 During the business meeting, the French version on the DVD lacks the following exchange. Edgar: "So, uh, what about Philippe? Do you know him?" Georges: "Philippe? Good."
6 Sec 1:19:10 / 1:19:35 When Maurice ties up Marie-Ange, the French version is again missing a short sequence. Maurice: "You see, I don't tighten. You'll come off easily. Swear to me that you won't move for half an hour!" Marie-Ange: "I swear!"
Maurice gently places Marie-Ange's head against a tree. He strokes her hair.
Maurice: "And when you do the drawing of me, please let me smile on it!"
The beginning of the next shot is also missing.
Total 23 Sec. 1:26:16 / 1:27:04 The German fade-in at the end of the film is briefly held longer.
