After the scene in the shower, Chow is seen entering the gym. There he sees Sandy and walks towards her to romantic music. As he stands in front of her, he suddenly shouts at Chang to make him jealous. Chang looks around the corner, whereupon Chow goes to Sandy with a grin. Sandy's sister Jacky then calls her to tennis and Chow is left alone. Chang laughs. This also explains why Chow makes a plan shortly afterwards to let Turtle distract Jacky.

We continue with a scene in which Chow and Miss Ho are looking for an apartment. He seems a little absent, which is why Miss Ho asks what's wrong. Chow confesses that he met a girl as part of his work as a secret agent. She is sympathetic and tells him that she also has a very cute colleague at her apprenticeship. So this gives a first hint to why she is with the math teacher at the end of the movie. Chow takes a breath, but then hugs her and they walk away.

53:24 / 68:34-69:47

Shortly afterwards, Chang timidly comes to the table, but to Chang's frustration the sisters leave. His colleagues come up to him and say that Sandy probably doesn't fancy him. Chang points to the foreign waiter and says that they shouldn't say that so loudly. One of the guys says that, as a foreigner, he wouldn't understand anything anyway (as the waiter has just corrected Chow's Chinese, the viewer knows that he does understand indeed). The Gwailo looks into the camera for a moment with a heavy expression.
