From Beyond First Time on Blu-ray It's quite sad. In the 80s, many films only got the "R" rating for the theatrical only after demanded cuts were applied. Today, this censored material is hard to find or in such a bad shape that a restauration turns out tricky to almost impossible. But sometimes there is still room for little wonders and some of those movies get the late honor to be released in the way they were initially intended. Stuart Gordon's From Beyond got this treatment in 2006, when the director found the censored scenes in the MGM archives, restored them and made them publicly available with a Pay-TV airing. The Director's Cut runs 1 minute longer than the theatrical version and does really live up to what you would expect from an unrated version. One year later, it got its release on DVD in the US. And the US is the place where From Beyond will be released in HD for the first time ever. On March 26th, 2013, the Blu-ray will be put out by Shout! Factory. It's a Collector's Edition that has the Unrated Director's Cut on board.
