The New Mutants Are Getting Support Orginally, the X-Men spin-off The New Mutants was supposed to be in theaters in April 2018 but the release has been postponed to February 2019 even though the ad campaign has already begun. Allegedly, there are too many other comic adaptions in theaters at that time (in some countries, Deadpool 2 would have been in theaters at the same time) and a bad box office result could have been the consequence. And yet, the movie is so very different from all the other comic adaptions: A horror film (the first one by Marvel), the hardest horror film ever made that is rated PG-13.
But there is more to the story: In addition to postponing the movie to Febraury 2019, there will be reshoots as well. It appears the first test screenings were not as good as expected director Boone had to face a lot of criticism hence the reshoots: There will be an entirely new character that is supposed to blend in somehow. Who that will be is still unknown and whether the movie will still be a hard PG-13 horror flick is also unclear at the moment.
