Once Upon a Time in America - Redux Version Last year, the announcement was made that a longer version of Sergio Leone's classic Once Upon a Time in America was in the works. At first, the US viewers got a version with a runtime of 140 minutes but that was quite a crime because this cut was heavily shortened and also ignored the overlapping structure of the original version with its runtime of 229 minutes. And since this longer cut has a very good reputation, a later release followed afterwards, as well. The upcoming redux version was supposed to be up to 40 minutes longer but will eventually have a runtime of 244 minutes, thus including 25 more minutes. The first country to get this new cut is Italy, where it will be released on December 4th, 2012. The Blu-ray will include both Italian and English audio lines. It is to be expected that other countries will get a release in the near future, too.
