It's hard to believe, but Inferno is apparently the first US film to be shot entirely in India. The logistics involved would probably have been expected of a more ambitious production than a project by frequent filmmaker Fred Olen Ray, whose works are likely to be familiar to B-action aficionados in particular. Not much use is made of the location, but perhaps the crew deliberately chose to stay in civilized climes and spaces. They didn't want to take malaria medication, because then they wouldn't have been allowed to drink alcohol. However, this thrill behind the camera is not transferred to the movie, which comes across as strangely sluggish and lacking in action.

In this respect, the edited version called Operation Cobra, which was streamlined for the US market, is actually the somewhat less ballast-laden version, especially as nothing was omitted from the action scenes. It is included as a bonus on WMM's Blu-ray premiere for the first time in Germany.

The US version was compared with the original version (both included on the German Blu-ray from WMM).

With 33 differences, the original version runs 547.48 sec. or approx. 9 minutes 8 seconds longer than the US version.
