Comparison between the censored Chinese DVD and the uncut German Blu-ray
- 10 cuts + 17 blur-censored scenes - cutting-time: 69.3 sec (= 1:09 min) In 2015, screenwriter Alex Garland made his debut as a director with Ex Machina and delivered an entertaining vision of the future on the subject of "Artificial Intelligence". Alicia Vikander rebels as the female Android Ava against the mysterious creator, who previously earned a golden nose with a social network and secured enough data input for his project. Along the way, they and their predecessors occasionally use the semi-physical stimuli, or at least these were staged accordingly. This brings us to the main reason for this cut-report. We have already dealt with cut-reports for the Chinese market like those for Logan for example. Logan already indicates what to expect at Ex Machina because the Chinese censors apparently rarely like to see nudity. So it caught all appropriate scenes with cuts as well as several blur-effects over the usual sex characteristics. In addition, a close-up of a razor blade on the arm was made unrecognizable. In Germany and also otherwise world-wide one remained at least spared from such interferences.
