Comparison:

Release: May 05, 2016 - Author: Eiskaltes Grab - Translator: DaxRider123 - external link: IMDB
This is a comparison between the Original Version and the Director's Cut, both included on the DVD/Blu-Ray released by Splendid.

There are 14 differences, consisting of alternative scenes and recuts.

A few months after the release of the Original Version followed the release of a Director's Cut. It does not include new scenes, yet is still very different from the Original Version, since several scenes were included in a different chronology. Through this, the plot is much easier to follow. The Original Version was a little more confusing. The Director's Cut was released in a Mediabook on DVD and Blu-Ray in Germany. This set includes a lot of bonus material.

All time designations refer to the Director's Cut.

Seed strokes Olivia's thigh with a revolver. Then he pushes it back and forth in her genital area. Seed seems to be tuned on and Olivia whimpers. Towards the end, Seed fires the gun while holding it between Olivia's legs. Blood splashes and Olivia falls on the bed. Seed pulls the revolver back out and licks the barrel. Then the camera cuts to Olivia, while blood floats out of her mouth.

Both versions include this scene. In the Director's Cut there are a few freeze frames, while the Original Version is not interrupted. Additionally, the credits' graphics are different, including the color. While the letters are white in the Director's Cut, they are red in the Original Version.

Again, there is some alternative footage in both versions. In the Director's Cut we can see a first shot of the mountains, followed by a shot of Claire and Christine in the rear mirror. The Original Version instead shows several plot scenes, which follow later on in the Director's Cut:

Original Version: Manoush chases Olivia and Claire through the desert. She runs after the two of them and aims a weapon at them. Olivia asks where Manoush leads them to, but the latter refuses to answer. Claire falls to the ground.
Claire lies on the floor, whimpers and begs, while Manoush aims her weapon at her. After saying that crying will not help her, Manoush also admits that she loves to hurt Claire. Manoush pushes her fingers into Claire's stomach wound. The latter screams in pain. Meanwhile, Olivia stands up and Manoush shoots a bullet in her leg.
Manoush then gets her radiophone out and calls for her son to help her. The son comes in, picks Claire up and goes away. Olivia sits on the floor and yells after Claire.

Barbara and Christine talk about a traumatic event in Christine's childhood. The movie constantly cuts back and forth from the conversation inside and Micaela Schäfer on the outside, climbing up the hills and calling for help. At some point, they hear the screams and go outside, thinking that it might be their friends.

Micaela stumbles from rock to rock and is happy when she sees the trailer parking close by, especially when Barbara and Christine come out. Suddenly, Seed appears behind her. He grabs Micaela's throat and breaks her neck. Then follows a close-up shot of hear dead face and blood running out of her mouth.

Christine and Barbara get out and walk around the trailer, look around and call for Olivia and Claire. When the two women are behind the trailer, Seed sneaks up into it. After a while, they go back into the trailer.

Back inside, Christine and Barbara talk about their friends who still have not returned. Suddenly, there is a loud noise in the back. Christine gets up and wants to take a look. She opens the bathroom's door and looks inside. She realizes that nobody is there. Barbara gets up and sits down on the passenger seat.

Christine is standing in the bathroom and worriedly looks into the mirror. The camera fades to Barbara, who sits in the front and listens to music. When Christine comes out of the bathroom, Seed appears behind her, grabs her and pulls her into the bedroom. Christine screams but Barbara cannot hear her because of the loud music. When Seed subdues Christine, he comes back out and goes after Barbara.

Christine sleeps on the couch. Claire joins her. They have a short chat and Christine explains that she cares for Claire's health. They leave the trailer to eat some marshmallows.

During the ride there is a shot of Barbara, Claire and Christine.

Original Version: You can see Barbara and Olivia sitting at the campfire a little longer.

Director's Cut: The trailer rides along the street, followed by a few shots of the mountains. The camera fades into the trailer, followed by some dialog of the women who talk about the hitchhiker they had picked up who was weird and intrusive. Then they discuss, whether or not they want to visit the Grand Canyon if they were close to it. Suddenly, Christine stops the car and asks Olivia to drive on. Then she gets up and walks to the bathroom.

Christine is standing inside the bathroom and takes a look at the scars on her stomach through the bathroom mirror. Barbara comes over and calls for Christine. In this moment she opens the door and asks what is wrong. Additionally, they make it clear that they will not visit the Grand Canyon. Then, Christine locks the door again.

Original Version: Glen walks through the desert with Claire. Manoush walks in front of them. Subsequently, Olivia sits on the floor. She calls for help. From the distance we can see a shape getting closer to Olivia. While she has no idea who it is, Olivia calls for help a few times and is happy about her life saver. Yet, her happiness goes away soon, when she realizes that the unknown person is Seed who does not come in peace. He picks Olivia up, carries her on his shoulders and walks away. Olivia screams and tries to fight him off but she does not succeed.

Both scenes are included in the Director's Cut as well. The scene of Seed carrying her away was included a little earlier. The other scene (dialog in the trailer) starts a little later in the Director's Cut.
