Comparison between censored UK-Tape by Palace Video(First Edition / Pre Cert) and the German uncut DVD by ASTRO
18 scenes with a total length of 59.5 seconds have been removed. The first UK edition of "The Evil Dead" was released as pre-cert tape (pre-cert = pre certification) by Palace Video in 1983. Approx. 1 minute was cut. Shortly after its release, the tape became one of the infamous "Video Nasties" but it was delisted two years later. In movie theaters, the exact same version was shown. There is another version that's even heavier cut. It lacks approx. 2 minutes. This version was released by 4 Front Video for instance. (Comparison BBFC 18 VHS (4 Front Video) - Unrated). The Uncut Version was also released on VHS. Furthermore, any DVD and Blu-ray release contains the Uncut Version as well. Jumpcuts haven't been considered. 35 Min
